William (Will) J. Wright is a distinguished figure in the field of news and broadcast management, celebrated for his innovative and unconventional thinking that has left a positive impact on the landscape of local and network broadcast media. He  is excited about his work as advisor to ARB Media that he sees as benefiting the public at large through faith-based projects. 

 

Will’s career spans over 55 years. Prior to this role, he served as an adjunct professor in mass communications at Five Towns College, demonstrating his passion for imparting knowledge to both media executives and students. Will's professional journey includes impactful roles such as the Manager of Diversity and News Editorial Projects for NBC News and MSNBC, where he played a pivotal role in transforming the workforce through training and corporate culture development. His contributions extend to positions such as Senior News Editor with “theGrio” and Manager of Digital Production for NBC News.

 

Recognized as a diversity champion and digital journalism advocate, Will has showcased his inclusive leadership style as Vice President and News Director of WWOR-TV in New York,  Vice President of News at KRIV in Houston, and as the General Manager of Cablevision's HD News. His commitment to community inclusion earned him the Diversity Champion Award from the National Association of Black Journalists during his tenure at Cablevision's HD News.

 

A recipient of numerous accolades, Will has been honored with 12 Emmy awards spanning categories such as Best Newscast, Investigative Reporting, and Set Design. His work on a two-year-long series on Poverty In America earned him recognition at the New York Film Festival. He is a powerful team building earning him the Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Overall News Operation, Telly Awards for investigative and documentary series, Gabriel Awards for coverage of Hurricane Katrina, and a Communications Excellence to Black Audiences (CEBA) Award for a series on The Tuskegee Airmen/Black Aviators further highlight his outstanding contributions.

 

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Will has been recognized in 2012 as a Black History Legend and Trailblazer by The McDonalds Corporation. He actively contributed to NBCUniversal's initiatives for diversity both in its ranks and on-air.

 

Beyond his media roles, Will has served as a member of Fordham University’s Board of Trustees, held a position on the Board of Directors of the Radio Television News Directors Association (now RTDNA), and currently serves as the Director of his Broadcast Journalism Coaching Foundation. His enduring commitment to excellence and inclusivity continues to shape the media landscape and inspire the next generation of media professionals. He finds the faith-based work he does with ARB Media, pure joy!
